PM and others help Grace

By Lanuola Tusani Tupufia

PM and others help Grace The family of a four-year-old girl who cannot walk on her own is extremely grateful to Prime Minister, Tuilaepa Sa’ilele Malielegaoi and several other ‘Good Samaritans.’ Grace Runa Misipati, of Ma’agao, has to be carried by her siblings.

Sometimes, she has to slide around the house because of an unidentified ailment in her right leg which causes her limb to bend on an angle.  She has now been given the chance to get treatment from Shriner’s Hospital in Hawaii but her parents don’t have enough money for the extra costs.

Grace’s surgery and airfare as well as the accompanied relative airfare is being paid for by Shriner’s, but the family is required to pay for the visas and to find pocket money.

On Sunday, Grace’s plea for help was published in Sunday Samoan.
Yesterday, her mother Malaga Misipati said told the Samoa Observer that she received calls from people who wanted to make her daughter’s wish come true.

An elderly mother offered to help and gave her $1,000 on Monday. Another person, who wished to remain anonymous, offered to pay for Grace and her visa.
“The Prime Minister has also offered to help with the pocket money together with another well-known businessman in town.

They said when the Coordinator for overseas treatment confirms their departure, the money will then be available.”
Mrs Misipati yesterday said she is happy that her daughter will soon be treated.

“I have no money to repay these people but can only ask God to bless them for their good hearts and to thank them for helping us who are strangers to them.”
Grace is schedule to leave when the process for her visa is completed.
