The Assistant Chief Executive Officer (ACEO) of Internal Affairs, who was investigated over a fight during his Ministry’s end of year celebration, has resigned. Tuioti Sakaria Taituave’s resignation was confirmed by the CEO of the Ministry of Women Community and Social Development, Leituala Kuiniselani Tago-Elisara, yesterday.

Leituala said Tuioti’s resignation has been submitted to the Public Se

rvice Commission. While Leituala confirmed that Tuioti’s decision took into account the incident that happened last year, the ACEO has decided to move forward and pursue studies at the National University of Samoa (NUS).

“From the letter, he will be studying full time at NUS taking post graduate and a Masters in Samoan Studies,” she said.  When Tuioti was asked for a comment yesterday, he said he would call back. The incident at the Ministry’s end of year function surfaced in a letter to the editor. The writer alleged the ACEO’s wife got into a fight with another woman.

Tuioti has a contract of three years in the post. He was assigned as ACEO March 2011.
Leituala said the resignation will be effective at the end of February.
