Angry landlord says beware of these women

By Charlina Tone

Angry landlord says beware of these women A local landlord is fuming after three women left his property without paying their rent.  Gordon Bartley, who operates a rental property at Lelata, leased his place to the women for two weeks.

The names they are known by, according to Mr Bartley, are Taula Isaako, Martha and Faith Tupuola. The latter has denied any knowledge of the claim. Mr Bartley says he allowed the women to stay at his property thinking they were genuine tenants.

But then the “lies” started and Mr Bartley “fell right into their traps.”
“Taula who does all the talking [for the three girls] told me she was waiting for money to be transferred into her account before making any payments,” Mr Bartley says.

“She always had an excuse when the money would not come through.” Unsuspecting Mr Bartle

y also loaned the trio $250 which has not been paid back.
“I was desperate for some tenants because I wanted to pay for a trip to Australia but they really fooled me.”

Mr Bartley is withholding the women’s possessions until they pay him what they owe. “I told Faith when she came back here last night [Monday night] that I was not giving them back their possessions until they pay their rent.” The women owe Mr Bartley more than $1,000.

“I just want to expose them so that people will be aware of them and not make the same mistake that I did.”
A contact number for Taula supplied by Mr Bartley was not answered yesterday.

However, Faith Tupuola claims she was unaware of what was going on. She said Taula’s real name was actually Tala.
“I gave my share of the rent to Tala, but she obviously wasn’t making the payments.”

She said Tala and Martha have runaway and she does not know where they are. “I tried contacting them that night and they lied and said they would call back but they never did.”
Faith says she feels deceived by Tala and Martha.

“Tala is my cousin and I trusted her… I never thought she would do this to me.” Faith says she will start to make repayments as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, Taula and Martha are still on the run.
